"Tell Your Heart to Beat Again" is a song written by Bernie Herms, Randy Phillips, and Matthew Westward and originally recorded past Contemporary Christian-Worship trio, Phillips, Craig and Dean for their 12th studio album, Breathe In (2012).[1] It was subsequently recorded by American vocalizer Danny Gokey for his second studio album, Hope in Front of Me (2014), with product by Herms. Gokey's rendition was released to Christian radio January 8, 2016 through BMG-Chrysalis equally the anthology's third unmarried.[2] The vocal reached number two on the Billboard Christian Songs nautical chart, earning Gokey his highest-charting single to date.[3]

In May 2016, an extended play featuring a Spanish version of the song, titled "Que Tu Corazón Vuelva a Latir", was released in promotion of Gokey'due south 4th studio album, La Esperanza Frente a Mi (2016), a Spanish re-recording of Hope in Front of Me.[4]

Initially composed in the manner of Gimmicky Christian music, Gokey's recording also includes influences of blue-eyed soul and country pop. ) to a "flowing" tempo of approximately 67 BPM.[5] The song follows a chord progression of Due east – Dm7 – B sus2 – F5 – Csus4 and includes a two octave song range spanning from Cfour through C6.[5] Lyrically, the song tells a story of starting over and moving on afterward a tragedy, with the narrator'south faith in God bolstering his resilience.[six]

An accompanying video was directed by Kristin Barlowe and premiered June 1, 2016.[7] Information technology focuses on a woman who releases her sadness through dance and a human who takes up boxing to defend himself after a mugging incident, both shown to take grown stronger through their struggles.
